Functionality for Pathways used to be limited to creating them based on a program, but users also now have the ability to create a Pathway independent of a program!
For example, this type of Pathway can be used to create a suggested list of items students should complete on the co-curricular level:
Permissions
To create a Pathway without a Program, the user first has to have the correct permission. A new permission type [pathway-type] has been created in order to give users the appropriate access to create/edit/publish/view these types of Pathways. This new permission is much broader and therefore those that have this permission are also then able to apply the Pathways to any student. So it is important for users with this permission to understand the power that comes with it.
Creating a Pathway without a Program
After clicking “Create New” from the Pathway tab - there will be an option within that dialog box to choose the category of “Pathway Based on” that you are looking to create. In this case, the user can select “None (create pathway without associated program)”. By using this option, the user does not have to specify any programs and audits and they can create a pathway without any programs attached to it.
Since this type of Pathway is not linked to a particular program, it can only be manually applied to students - either individually or in bulk through a list of usernames.
