Stellic now offers the option for admin users to "lock" courses or placeholders on Pathways.
A Locked Pathway is a Pathway that an admin/advisor can apply to students' plans that the student will be unable to remove or change.
An item on a Pathway includes a course or a placeholder that can be locked individually, as part of a term/semester/quarter, or as part of an entire Locked Pathway.
Important Notes about Locked Pathways:
- Once a course, placeholder, or semester/term/quarter or entire Pathway is locked, only an admin or advisor with the plan_edit permission can remove the item. If a student does not complete the item in the term indicated by the Pathway, Stellic will automatically return these items to the tentative list at the end of each term.
- A student will not be able to replace placeholders or remove them from their plan, even if they add a course that will satisfy the placeholder.
- Once an admin replaces a locked placeholder with a course, the course is no longer locked as the course itself did not come from the Locked Pathway.
- Students will be unable to move Locked Pathway items from the semester/term/quarter to a different semester/term/quarter nor will they be able to remove it entirely from their plan.
- Locking Pathways is not the same as a locked plan; only courses placed on a student's plan via a Pathway can be locked - individual courses or courses moved to a student's plan via the course search cannot be locked.
- Locked Pathway elements are indicated with a small lock icon that contains the hover text message below:
Lock an Entire Pathway:
To lock an entire Pathway, click on the three dots at the top of your Pathway and select "Lock Pathway" - this will lock all of the items you added to the Pathway:
Lock a Term/Semester/Quarter on a Pathway:

Lock an Individual Course or Placeholder:
On each course or placeholder on the Pathway there will now be a "Lock" option next to the pre-existing "Add Note" button when hovering over the item.
